During a recent trip to Hawaii, the 65-year-old proposed to his girlfriend.

Hollywood veteran Dennis Quaid has been engaged with his girlfriend, Laura Savoie, a 26-year-old PhD student.
The 65-year-old actor, who is best known for starring in the 90s comedy classic The Parent Trap and sci-fi thriller The Day After Tomorrow.

He said to the entertainment outlet Extra: “It happened at Turtle Bay, at the very northern point of Oahu.
“It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much of a surprise.”
Quaid went on to announce that he had intended to propose for more than a month to his lovely, whom he has been dating since June.
“In my pocket I had the ring” he said. “It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan… I wanted it to be private.”
He stated: “She was actually taking a selfie of us and I put the ring in front and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ – and then she fell down.”
For the actor who was previously married to actresses PJ Soles and Meg Ryan, and estate agent Kimberly Buffington, the upcoming marriage to the Texas university student will be the fourth.
He has three children as well, including actor Jack Quaid.
Elaine Hendrix
In response to the news of the happy couple, Elaine Hendrix, the co-star of Quaid in The Parent Trap, made a throwback to the movie in what also seemed to be a comparison to their characters.
Quaid was playing Nick Parker, a divorced father who is engaged in a relationship with a much younger woman (Hendrix) that his twin daughters, played by a young Lindsay Lohan, are trying to sabotage.
Hendrix wrote in her tweet referring engagement news: “Watch out for those twins.”
The trip to Hawaii of Quaid and Savoie was part of a promotional drive for the latest movie by the actor Midway.
