It is noted that Facebook is testing a new option that would allow users to share their Facebook and Messenger stories with smaller, selected groups of friends, as compared to all their connections.
As you can see in this example, shared by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong, the option would allow you to share your stories with a new ‘ Favorites ‘ list option.
As Wong states in her post, the feature is close to the sharing option of Instagram’s ‘ Close Friends, ‘ launched last year in December.

That seems to be more in line with Stories ‘ wider use as a more private option-the format originated from Snapchat, where the emphasis is on interaction with your closest connections.
The option could also provide a way to share with selected users from a product perspective and help build interaction with key advocates.
Back in June, as a targeting tool for Facebook Page posts, Facebook added a similar option to ‘ Top Fans. ‘
You could look at using this feature in the same way, offering exclusive story content to your community’s chosen members, creating a level of exclusivity that could help foster brand loyalty.
There is no word on any official release, or how the feature would work “for example, could those on that initial ‘ Favorites ‘ list then re-share the story from their profiles?”, but it could be another element to look at as a potential addition to your Stories Strategy in 2020.
