At the ATP Finals tournament, which begins at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer were drawn in the same group.
Together with Dominic Thiem and Matteo Berrettini, five-time winner Djokovic and six-time winner Federer will be drawn.
In a team of Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev, the world number one Rafael Nadal is in.
Nadal said he expects to play in London earlier on Tuesday, despite pulling out of the Paris Masters last week.
The Spaniard said that an MRI scan revealed a “weak” abdominal injury, forcing him to withdraw from the Paris semi-finals.
Nadal overtook Djokovic at the top of the rankings this week, despite dropping out, but was able to lose the spot as the number one year-end in London.
If the Spaniard doesn’t play at the ATP Finals or doesn’t win a round-robin match, Djokovic would take top spot if he wins two group-stage matches and finishes.
At number two, Djokovic will also finish the year when he wins the tournament and Nadal does not reach the semi-finals.
The ATP Finals are the season-end championships with the eight best players of the year and have been held at the O2 Arena in London since 2009.
The players play three round-robin matches advancing to the semi-finals with the top two in each
group.
Joe Salisbury from the United Kingdom and Rajeev Ram are in the double competition and play Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus in the opening match on Sunday at 12:00 GMT.
